Associated Builders and Contractors

National association representing more than 24,000 construction industry businesses and individuals through 78 local and state chapters. Advocates industry to all braches of national government, local and state agencies and news media. Follows the merit shop philosophy by encouraging open competition and free enterprise.

Activities include: government representation, legal advocacy, education, workforce development, employee benefits, informational tools and online directories.

News releases, current issues and updates, as well as information about events and meetings, are posted daily on the Web site.

Membership, primarily consisting of firms working in industrial and commercial sectors, represents all specialized fields within the industry. The Web site provides direct links to local chapters. Membership in a local chapter is required.

American Council For Construction Education
A national organization of construction-oriented associations, corporations and individuals united in support and improvement of post-secondary construction education.

Assists in accrediting construction education programs at colleges and universities nationwide and provides teams to evaluate college programs.

Two semiannual conferences are held each year in February and July. Publications include an annual report, semiannual newsletters, and accreditation standards and procedures. Fees vary from individual memberships, organizations and associations.
